Proteinuria, also known as albuminuria, is a condition where there is too much protein in the urine. It's a symptom of kidney problems and other health conditions.
Kidney damage : When the glomeruli, the kidney's filters, are damaged, they allow too much protein to pass into the urine. This can be caused by hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, and other kidney diseases.
Other health conditions : Proteinuria can also be caused by dehydration, high stress, fever, high-intensity physical activity, and exposure to cold temperatures.
Immune disorders : Certain immune disorders, such as lupus and Goodpasture's syndrome, can damage the kidneys and cause proteinuria.
